Abstract-Negative terahertz conductivity in remotely doped graphene bilayer heterostructures
Dinh Van Tuan, Stephan Roche
https://scirate.com/arxiv/cond-mat.mes-hall
We report anomalous quantum transport features in bilayer graphene in presence of a random distribution of structural vacancies. By using an efficient real-space Kubo-Greenwood transport methodology, the impact of a varying density of dimer versus non-dimer vacancies is investigated in very large scale disordered models. While non-dimer vacancies are shown to induce localization regimes, dimer vacancies result in an unexpected ballistic regime whose energy window surprisingly enlarges with increasing impurity density. Such counterintuitive phenomenon is explained by the formation of an effective linear dispersion in the bilayer bandstructure, which roots in the symmetry breaking effects driven by dimer vacancies, and provides a novel realization of Dirac semimetals in high dimension.

Conference- Graphene and other Two-Dimensional Materials
My Note: I received this email this am, and I am happy to share with readers here. As usual, I don't guarantee the security of outside links.
Dear Colleague,
We would like to inform you about recent updates concerning the 4th edition of Graphene Conference series (GRAPHENE 2014), the cornerstone International conference on Graphene and other Two-dimensional Materials (MoS2, BN, etc..) to be held from May 6 to 9 – 2014 at the Centre de Congrés Pierre Baudis in Toulouse-FRANCE (Flyer:www.grapheneconf.com/Files/ GRAPHENE2014_flyer_November. pdf).
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION (ORAL & POSTER) + REGISTRATION ARE NOW OPEN
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION - www.grapheneconf.com/GENERAL/ regini.php?d=abs&c=2014
DEADLINE : FEBRUARY 3, 2014
GRAPHENE 2014 will include:
1) Plenary session with internationally renowned speakers covering most fundamental issues in graphene and two-dimensional materials, as well as technological challenges in large scale synthesis & integration, and industrial push and pull (AIRBUS, SAMSUNG, NOKIA, AIXTRON, SOLVAY, etc.)
2) A menu “à la carte” with thematic workshops in parallel
a. SYNTHESIS-GROWTH- CHARACTERIZATION (Graphene and other two-dimensional Materials)
b. APPLICATIONS OF GRAPHENE and 2D materials
c. THEORY and SIMULATION of Two-dimensional Materials/graphene and devices
d. WORLDWIDE GRAPHENE INITIATIVES, FUNDING AND PRIORITIES
3) The first GRAPHENE.CONNECT industrial Workshop on graphene nanocomposites [organized by the GRAPHENE FLAGSHIP], during which networking with the Graphene Flagship consortium and brainstorming on new research priorities will be achieved
4) The first WORLDWIDE GRAPHENE RESEARCH CENTERS PAVILION located in the exhibition area will boost networking between research institutes, academics, engineers and industrials [already registered: Manchester Graphene Center, SKKU, KAIST, …]
5) Dedicated sessions for oral communications for PhD students, with already more than 50 grants available and Poster prizes awarded to PhD students and Post-docs.
6) Many industrial partners already registered (more than 30 have joined the event), exhibitors and sponsors evidencing the increasing activities in applications of graphene and related materials. This makes GRAPHENE 2014 a suitable platform for fostering business opportunities beyond Science.
Following the overwhelming success of the last three editions of Graphene, we expect around 700 participants.
Last but not least, Toulouse is a charming city with its historical heritage, delicious French cuisine, etc. and a weather which should be truly enjoyable at that time…
Don´t miss the opportunity of memorable moments, meeting colleagues, enhancing your professional and strategic network , and be positioned on the map!
The field is moving so fast that to catch up, you must be “connected”!
Looking forward meeting you then.
Regards
On behalf of the organisers,
Stephan Roche
