Carbon-based terahertz (THz) zone plates (TZP) are explored as silicon-substrate compatible solutions for compact optics components that can be implemented in THz imaging systems. Graphite and graphite composites TZP are investigated both theoretically and experimentally employing THz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and THz imaging technique in the range of 0.6 THz. Their spectral features and focusing performance are discussed and evaluated.
