QUORA-I'm hoping to create a forum for discussion about the development and commercialization of Terahertz

My Note: Since I can't get anyone to comment here, lets try another venue. Please join me.

I set up this Quora topic, to discuss the development and commercialization of terahertz, (THz) well over two years ago, hoping some of the individuals actually involved in terahertz development would post and thereby open a location to discuss and bring attention to their product development, possibly interact with their peers, and provide a site where lay individuals such asmyself could learn more about this exciting virgin technology. My mindset in setting up "terahertz" as a topical category was that if you build it, they will come." Obviously, nothing happened by simply setting up a topic label.
So let me start with a simple question. What companies are actually selling terahertz scanners outside of the markets in astronomy, and research, markets?
I know that Mela and Verasante, are trying to break into the  cancer detection market, using multi-spectral scanning, but their sales are marginal at best. Advanced Photonix (API),  has made a few tepid sales in the nuclear gauge market, and sales to the USAF, Navy and NASA, but is anyone actually making money? I would love to learn what Advantest, Teraview, Virginia Diodes, TeTechS,  InView,  Traycer,  Genia Photonics, Emcore, Zomega, ST Microelectronics, Coherent, Bridge12,  Fraunhofer,  Toptica, Terasense, Digital Barriers, Agilent, and other are actually doing in terms of making sales and in what areas. I would also love to hear from anyone involved in  the numerous research labs working with the development of Terahertz.

I've tried to provoke discussion on my blog Terahertz Technology, but while readership there continue to increase every day, I seldom get any comments.

Terahertz is an extremely exciting technology which lies in a virtually untapped area of the electromagenetic spectrum, and some of the companies identified above are likely to push sales of THz products over the tipping point, where, if this technological development follows the well-recognized S-Curve, one can expect nine times the adoption in the same time it took to  innovate.

From an investment perspective this is very significant because such trends in other product areas have been shown to be predictable and very profitable if one is able to anticipate the massive break-out before the tipping point is reached. THz is a virgin technology that has incredible potential in a vast number of areas including, process & product control across the industrial

"board", it holds promise for applications in multiple areas of medicaldiagnostics, airport & homeland security, astronomy, and a host of other areas and applications.

Please share your insights.
