Advanced Photonix reports substantial progress of it's commercial sales in Terahertz process and quality control

I participated in both listening to, and asking questions on  the Q4 2012 Advanced Photonix Earnings Conference Call held on Friday, June 29, 2012.
Rob Risser the Advanced Photonix, COO, reported "substantial progress" in the development of a true commercial market for API's T-Ray 4000, and T-Gauge systems. Rob noted that API's association with Thermo-Fisher Scientific (which is acting as a value added reseller of API's THz systems) is paying off, with two recent commercial sales in the process and quality control market, in building materials and in nutraceuticals. Risser reported a "backlog of customers" for API THz products, is growing.
Risser and Rick Kurtz, CEO, also gave what I believe was a very positive outlook on the likelihood of API, establishing a similar VAR relationship in the paper industry, and both expected developments in this industry in the future.
Use of THz for quality control for application of paint on the F-35's  speciality radar absorbing, coated surfaces continues, and API will be supplying new hand-held versions of the T-Gauge for use by Northrup Grumman.  API was able to actually demonstrate the use of it's Terahertz application for inspection of paint while it was being applied to the major automobile companies at the Detroit Society for Coating Technology.
Shipment of the 3 beta version's of the API, Anomaly Detection Device to the Transportation and Security Administration occurred as scheduled in March. Risser cautioned that evaluation of the product by the TSA will be lengthy, but once adopted should open many new market opportunities.

In my opinion, you can expect to see THz breakthroughs with commercial application and actual use in the Timber, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas, Automotive, Airplane, and many other areas of industrial production, where quality control is essential. Whether API will trail-blaze into those arenas is yet to be seen, but by all appearances they are leading the Terahertz community thus far. If you disagree please leave me a comment and tell me why you disagree. I'm always looking for news about THz related breakthroughs into the manufacturing arena. I see many stories about products that appear capable of providing the service, but very few stories of companies actually making sales and finding uses on the factory floor.
If your company is making such sales PLEASE let me know.  (I would love to hear from Teraview about actual sales, outside of the laboratory setting and use of their systems on a factory floor)

AS ALWAYS THESE ARE MY JUST MY PERSONAL OPINIONS AND MY INTERPRETATION OF THE API CONFERENCE CALL.  PLEASE LISTEN FOR YOURSELF.
