This chapter highlights the prospect of terahertz (THz) waves in medical applications. It gives an overview of materials and devices used for THz technology in different fields of biomedical applications. In fact, THz spectroscopy and imaging for biomedical applications using different setups are reviewed in a comprehensive manner. This is followed by a discussion on THz applications in cell and tissue imaging. A more focused emerging field of research, i.e., chip integrable THz devices, has been documented along with some of the recent works in this area. An outlook toward the potential applications of 2D materials-based THz devices in biomedical research, including focus on carbon-based 2DMs, transition metal dichalcogenides, has also been discussed.
