Analytica 2014: Toptica lasers for microscopy, spectroscopy and more

TopMode is a high-coherence, high-power diode laser
Toptica presents the latest developments in diode and ultrafast fiber lasers for biophotonics & microscopy, Raman spectroscopy as well as for test & measurement tasks such as interferometry, inspection and terahertz generation.
Toptica will be in stand 400 in hall A1 at Analytica showing the range of its products. The iBeam smart WS features reliable wavelength-stabilized laser diodes and merges a narrow linewidth with high beam quality, low power consumption and a high robustness. Furthermore, the iBeam smart WS also offers an ultra-compact footprint and the known ease of use of a diode laser at 638 nm, 685 nm and 785 nm with output powers up to 120 mW.
The company reports that the system ensures a high stability of power and wavelength, and excellent beam-pointing stability by active thermal stabilization of the laser diode. It maintains its outstanding performance even under harsh environmental conditions. Thus, the iBeam smart WS meets the requirements of applications that require high-coherence lasers, such as high-resolution Raman microscopy / spectroscopy, interferometry and holography.
The TopMode (pictured here) is a high-coherence, high-power diode laser that operates as easily as a HeNe-laser. The proprietary CoHerence-Advanced Regulation Method (CHARM) provides active stabilization of the lasers’ coherence and ensures continuous single-frequency operation for excellent stability of lasing wavelength and output power. Featuring a spectral width of less than 5 MHz (a coherence length greater than 20 m), the TopMode is available at six wavelengths from 405 nm to 685 nm. With 100 mW power, the 405 nm model offers the highest single-frequency output of any direct diode-based system, providing a push-button OEM solution for the quest for the “blue HeNe-laser”. A newly developed 633 nm model will be shown live at the booth. Applications of the TopMode laser family include interferometry, Raman spectroscopy, quantum cryptography and semicon inspection.
Toptica’s FemtoFiber family has a new member: the FemtoFiber dichro. It complements the ultrafast fiber laser series FemtoFiber pro and FemtoFiber smart and emits femtosecond pulses at 780 nm and 1030 nm from the same aperture. The first model provides pulses with spatial and temporal overlap for multi-photon applications. An integrated high-precision delay line allows adjusting the timing of the two wavelengths to obtain a perfect temporal overlap of the femtosecond pulses at the sample.
Like all other fiber lasers from Toptica, the new FemtoFiber dichro uses SAM (saturable absorber mirror)-technology and polarization maintaining fibers, both of which ensure extraordinary robustness and reliability.
Toptica’s FemtoFiber technology can also be found at the heart of TeraFlash, a table-top platform for pulsed Terahertz spectroscopy. It uses mature 1.5 μm telecom technology, a highly precise delay stage and state-of-the-art InGaAs terahertz antennas. With a bandwidth of 4.5 THz, this platform covers the relevant frequency range of chemical substances (e.g., biomolecules, explosives and narcotics).Furthermore, the TeraFlash provides a peak dynamic range of more than 70 dB – an industry-breaking record in sensitivity.High-power multi-laser engines with auto-calibration Microscopes or flow cytometers require multiple laser wavelengths out of one package. Toptica’s exceptional iChrome MLE provides a perfect solution: up to four cw or pulsed laser beams combined into one single-mode fiber – all integrated in one compact box.
Toptica presents new models with an output power up to 100 mW even at 532 and 561 nm. The unique COOLAC beam combination technology guarantees perfect optomechanical stability, removing the need for any manual alignment. Thanks to the COOLAC auto-calibration feature, the iChrome MLE does not require a complicated installation: with just a push of a button, the laser is ready for operation. The user-friendly and flexible interface provides direct modulation up to 20 MHz, and instantly achieves power levels between μW and mW.
Individual wavelengths are also available in a compact all-in-one device: the iBeam smart. Up to 300 mW and direct modulation up to 250 MHz are two of its unique features, appreciated by thousands of customers worldwide. Of course it is equipped with Toptica’s unique SKILL function that reduces speckle patterns in imaging applications.
The new ultrafast-platform FemtoFiber dichro (design-model),TeraFlash, is a versatile time-domain terahertz spectroscopy platform. iChrome MLE HP: the new high-power versions offer as much as 100 mW for each individual laser line.
