ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Photonix® (NYSE Amex: API), the leading supplier of terahertz systems to industry, announced today that it has appointed Shimadzu Precision Instruments as a sales representative for the Japanese Market, and giving exclusivity for the Japanese Ministry of Defense and the Japanese Aerospace market.
The ability of terahertz energy to penetrate non-conducting materials allows measurement of thickness, density, and certain material properties that can be used to monitor the quality of the product being produced. The wide frequency content and high precision of the T-Gauge™ system provides sensitivity to both physical and chemical changes in the product. The T-Gauge product has been used to assist in the application and removal of specialty coatings, and in the final inspection of the assembly of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. As this airframe goes into production and deployment with our allies, the requirement for inspection will increase at both factories and repair depots.
